Accomplished chef, advocate of keepin’ things local, mentor to aspiring culinary professionals and breakfast beer aficionado, Jim Davis (along with his business partner, Fred), opened The Sunrise Shack in Glen, NH, in 2012. The popular Mt. Washington Valley eatery was built on Jim’s dream of creating a down-home roadside joint where folks can gather for creative food, tasty drinks and good conversation.

In early 2022, we lost Jim unexpectedly, leaving behind the greatest loves of his life—daughter Emily and son Ben. The Mad Food Genius Fund (MFGF) was established to celebrate Jim’s life passion while helping his children during the difficult transition to life without their dad. Ultimately, MFGF’s mission will shift to providing scholarship assistance to young folks from the Valley in pursuit of higher culinary education.
